Hey, I’m Zali — the artist behind Dot & Drift.
I’m a proud Kuku Yalanji and Llama Llama woman, and every piece I create carries the spirit of my culture, stories from Country, and moments of connection. My art is a way of keeping those stories alive — blending tradition with bold colours, movement, and meaning.
Dot & Drift is a one-woman journey. From painting to packing orders, it’s all done with love, care, and deep respect for where I come from and where I’m heading. Inspired by my ancestors and my daughter, this isn’t just art — it’s heart.
Every piece has a story — and I’m so grateful to share mine with you.
May my art speak to your spirit, as it comes from mine.
Dot & Drift was born from a love of storytelling through movement and pattern. The name reflects the flow between dot painting traditions and the gentle drift of ideas, memories, and connection to Country. It’s about finding calm in culture, and letting each piece carry its own quiet story — grounded, yet always moving.
At Dot & Drift, each piece is thoughtfully created to carry story, spirit, and style. We offer a range of hand-crafted items including canvas originals, fine art prints, statement earrings, and painted mirrors — each one inspired by connection to Country and the natural flow of dreaming and design.
Every product is a blend of tradition and contemporary creativity, made to bring warmth, meaning, and movement into your everyday life.
At Dot & Drift, my mission is to carry story forward — to honour the hands that taught us, and to create for the little ones still growing into theirs.
Rooted in the legacy of my Nan, who taught me to paint, to listen, and to share stories with care, every piece is a continuation of her spirit — gentle, strong, and deeply connected to Country.
We create with the next generation in mind. So that our culture doesn’t just survive, but thrives — in our homes, our hearts, and our everyday lives.
This isn’t just art.
It’s memory.
It’s healing.
It’s our way of walking forward while holding onto where we’ve come from.
My mission with Dot & Drift is to share culture through creativity — to tell stories of Country, connection, and identity in a way that feels both grounding and uplifting. Through every dot and flowing line, I honour where I come from and who I walk for.
This journey is deeply personal. I carry the strength and wisdom of my Nana, who continues to guide me, and I create with love and hope for my daughter, so she grows up proud, connected, and strong in culture.
Dot & Drift is about keeping story and spirit alive — not just for me, but for the next generation. It’s art with heart, made to spark feeling, invite reflection, and celebrate Blak voices and beauty.
